United Communications: Fast Broadband in a Picturesque Setting

Chapel Hill-based United Communications is making remote work possible for those assisting the broadband industry.

Craig Barber is founder and CEO of Hatbox LLC, a company in Marshall County specializing in workforce management and cybersecurity for rural broadband providers. Craig moved to the area from England a couple of years ago and has used United’s broadband service to overcome connectivity challenges.

He recalls an immediate connection with the area upon arriving in Tennessee.

“When I relocated to Tennessee from England in 2022, I immediately fell in love with Marshall County. Despite being thousands of miles apart, it reminded me of Suffolk, the county where I grew up,” he says.

There were issues finding adequate internet service initially, though.

“While looking for a home, I noticed that many areas did not have access to high-speed broadband,” Craig says. “Since I often work remotely, good internet connectivity was non-negotiable.”

United, with its commitment to providing superior fiber broadband throughout the region, turned things around, though. Craig found that he could still enjoy the land he’d come to love while maintaining work that benefits the industry.
