SRC Spotlight: DTC Brings Exciting Esports Competitions to Local Gamers

Gamers in Alexandria-based DTC Communications’ service area now have a great opportunity for rousing esports competition on a regular basis. Weekly virtual events in this service area and the markets of nearly 50 other fiber broadband providers are available through a partnership with the Fiber Gaming Network, an online community that facilitates esports and gaming events continuously.

FGN strives to provide a broad mix of titles to reach gamers of all levels. Gamers participating in DTC’s events have had access to some of the most popular titles, including Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, Fortnite, and Minecraft. New titles and well-known party and trivia games have been popular draws, too.

FGN reports enthusiastic responses from gamers who have participated in events, as well as from parents who have learned more about esports opportunities as they relate to college scholarships and careers. Nearly 100 gamers have registered for and participated in DTC’s FGN events so far, and this engagement is likely to grow as more people find out about the events and as more schools come onboard as FGN scholastic partners.
