Volunteers Well-Represented in Tnba Member Companies

Posted: April 17, 2024

National Volunteer Week is April 21 through 27 this year. Since its establishment in 1974, it has highlighted the impact of volunteer service in transforming communities and the world. Tennessee is known as the Volunteer State, so it’s the perfect place to celebrate a week that puts attention on giving back. Our members’ employees are great about connecting with their communities in meaningful ways. Here are just a few examples:

Ben Lomand Connect has had countless employees display a spirit of volunteerism over the years. They are Sunday school teachers, coaches, firefighters, first responders, county fair workers and so much more. They make meals for co-workers who are sick and collect and contribute donations for people in need within the company and in the broader community. And all of these things happen without any incentive or request from management. The Ben Lomand Connect tagline, “It’s what we do!” rings true for employee volunteerism.

BTC Fiber‘s staff includes Little League coaches, volunteer firefighters, and chamber of commerce volunteers working throughout the community in their off-hours. BTC hosts fundraisers throughout the year where employees may make donations toward a program called Christmas for Kids. A committee works hard on this throughout the year to make sure children in the community are taken care of during the holiday season.

Little League coach Chas Brown sums up her dedication to the community simply and eloquently.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to share the passion I have for sports with young athletes and the positive relationships, life lessons, and sportsmanship I am able to teach them along the way,” she says.
