Denise MankaThe broadband communications construction sector has not been known, historically, for gender diversity. Recently, however, there’s been a noticeable shift as more women pursue careers in this industry. From project management and network design to installation and maintenance, women are getting involved in broadband construction on all levels.

One of the most significant developments in the industry is the increasing presence of women in C-suite roles,” said Denise Manka, senior director of ADB Companies, a national turnkey design engineering and construction firm. “Women are breaking through barriers and assuming leadership positions in companies that specialize in broadband communications construction. These women bring a wealth of knowledge, skills, and innovative thinking to their roles, driving strategic decision-making and shaping the future of the industry.”

The attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to quality women bring to the workplace are influential in the delivery of high-quality service to customers, Manka says.

“Women in installation and maintenance roles are playing a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of communication networks,” she says. “By excelling in these technical roles, women are challenging stereotypes and proving that they have a place in traditionally male-dominated fields.”

And the presence of women in broadband communications construction also makes for greater inclusivity and accessibility in communication infrastructure.

Women, Manka says, “understand the importance of ensuring that underserved communities, rural areas, and marginalized populations have access to reliable broadband services with their unique perspectives, skills, and leadership capabilities, women are playing a vital role in shaping the future of communication infrastructure and advancing connectivity for all.”
