TNBA supports Tennessee youth agriculture

4-H Scholarship recipient Nicholas Hawk says the skills he has learned in 4-H will benefit him throughout his life.

The Tennessee Broadband Association is pleased to support local 4-H scholars.

We’re proud to sponsor the eighth annual Tennessee State Fair Future Farmers of America Ham Breakfast on Aug. 21 at the Wilson County-State Fairgrounds in Lebanon. Tennessee boasts the fifth largest FFA association in the nation, and this is an event that 1,200 business leaders, government leaders and Tennessee FFA members are expected to attend.

We’re supporting our 4-H participants at the state level, too. Although this organization has its roots in agriculture, it’s expanded beyond those borders in recent years and now addresses subjects like technology. We’re sponsoring the scholarship for the 4-H Computer & Technology Project, which the University of Tennessee Extension Institute of Agriculture puts on.

Scholarship recipient Nicholas Hawk has experienced the benefits of 4-H firsthand. “I’ve been able to meet lots of new people and have many new experiences,” he says. “I plan to use the skills that I learned with 4-H to get a good job. I will use communication and leadership skills I’ve learned to get myself into a leadership position.”

Hawk plans to attend the University of Tennessee after graduating from high school. TNBA’s sponsorship also includes a trip for him to the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta in November.
