Executive Director Spotlight: Spring brings with it big events

Carrie headshotAs spring approaches, Tennesseans are out and about enjoying a change of weather and participating in events that keep us all connected – now and in the future.

Two such events will soon be here. Each, in their own way, support our goal to stay connected with our legislators and our members.

TNBA members will head to Washington, D.C., for the NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association’s Legislative + Policy Conference, April 16-18, where we’ll spend one day with Tennessee representatives and one day with our peers from across the country hearing the issues that can impact our industry. We look forward to sharing our successes and to dig into our challenges.

On a personal note, the chance to experience our nation’s capital is an event in and of itself. I have to say, the opportunity to stand in awe and take it all in simply never gets old.

As April unfolds, we’re planning the TNBA Annual Convention & Showcase, which will be June 6-8 at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin. We’ll hear from keynote speakers Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter, a leader in state and economic development, and industry leader, NTCA CEO Shirley Bloomfield.

I’m especially looking forward to Thursday’s showcase when industry members can share ideas. On that note, there are only a limited number of booths left, so don’t wait to reserve yours! In addition to learning from each other, the convention and showcase will feature raffle prizes, golf, great food and beverages.

One more thing — we’re sending sponsorship signage to print in early May, so sign up as a sponsor.

You know, this type of event just doesn’t come together without great people working behind the scenes. Along with Greg Smart, chair of this year’s convention committee and incoming TNBA Board president, I would like to thank our volunteer member committee for all the hard work on the annual convention. If you have questions about convention and showcase registration or sponsorship, drop me a line or give me a call any time!
