For Tennessee Broadband Association (TNBA) members, the annual Day on the Hill is one of the most important dates on the calendar.

On February 7, about 20 TNBA members are expected to join our government affairs team and partners from Capitol Strategy Group to meet with lawmakers in Nashville.

The day will kick off with a grab-and-go breakfast for any state legislator or member of their staff. The informal breakfast provides an opportunity for TNBA members to meet with lawmakers they may not otherwise see during the day.

Representatives of TNBA member companies will be organized into groups of about five people to visit with various legislators during 30 or more appointments.

“The Day on the Hill lets legislators know that our group understands the importance of their work and shows our members the relationships TNBA has with lawmakers,” TNBA Government Affairs Director Levoy Knowles says. “It also helps legislators to know we have a lot of support back home in the areas they represent and throughout the state.”

Prior to the Day on the Hill, Governor Bill Lee will present his State of the State address on February 6, laying out his plans for 2023. While broadband remains an important focus throughout Tennessee, Lee is also expected to highlight plans for education, transportation and infrastructure.

“We continue to be involved in important discussions as bills are being formed,” Knowles says. “As always, there’s sure to be surprises throughout the legislative session, and we’ll keep members informed as needs arise. We look forward to a productive day for TNBA members on February 7.”
