Don’t Overlook the Power of Your Story

Carrie Huckeby headshotIn my first couple of months as executive director, I’ve hit the ground running, helping support our members.

In the past few months, I’ve worked with platinum members to plan the Tennessee Broadband Association Annual Convention and Showcase in June, organized other events, and found new ways to share your stories as TNBA members. You’ll soon see more content in the Member Profile and Broadband Success Stories sections of our website.

With decades of experience on the marketing side of the telecom industry, I’m excited to continue sharing our members’ stories. And who doesn’t love a good story? It’s part of the reason the film industry continued to generate billions in revenue the last few years, despite challenges of COVID-19.

Without much effort, I’ll bet you can identify the movies from which these quotes came: “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” “If you build it, he will come.” “There’s no place like home.” If you answered “Jaws,” “Field of Dreams” and “The Wizard of Oz,” you’re correct.

What’s so important about the stories you can tell? Every single one has the same elements of a Hollywood blockbuster. Think about it … Groups of farmers banding together to better their communities. Our member companies are connecting rural Tennesseans to educational opportunities across the world and keeping families connected to share in life’s greatest memories.

You tell stories effortlessly every single day. But, it’s not effortless. There’s countless men and women who work to make each story possible. So let’s keep adding chapters to our stories. Let’s keep #ConnectingTN to ensure our communities prosper.

I’m proud to be your biggest champion and advocate for the needs of our association, our members and the people of Tennessee!
